Where does the information in RV Directions come from?
In general, the information comes from the Internet - usually the organization's web site, if they have one.

Why is the detail in RV Directions better than the detail in the map programs or other poi products on the internet?
The map programs and the free sources of data on the internet generally provide only location and phone humber. If you're looking for a restaurant, like say Subway, you don't need to know more than that. But if you're looking for a campground to spend the night, you need to know much more. You can't make a selection decision just knowing location. You need to know site attributes, cost, quality, affiliations that the campground may have (so you can get discounts you are entitled to), do they provide WiFi, and stuff like that. The same is true of many of the other location groups in RV Directions. Like which Walmart's allow overnight parking, which Cracker Barrels have parking space for an RV, which rest areas have RV dump facilities, etc. That's the value added in RV Directions. You don't get that in the other, free location products.

Where does the map location information come from?
We originally used information from the normal sources that provide such information.  Unfortunately we found this data to be unacceptably inaccurate. We're now in the process of manually locating each campground from the campground's direction information.  That is, we follow the directions on a map until we get to the location of the campground.  We then try to verify this location using Microsoft's Live Search Maps or Google Earth.  This is very labor-intensive but results in campground location information that is the best and most accurate that you can find anywhere.

Where do the campground ratings come from?
Campground rating data has been collected from several sources who rate campgrounds.  This data is consolidated and averaged,to reach a consensus opinion.

Is the information in RV Directions kept up to date?
Yes, an updated version is released every year in March.  Existing customers are able to get the upgrade at a modest, discounted upgrade price (50% discount from list price).  Also, we occasionally provide our customers with maintenance releases if we find the need to update the content of an annual release.  These maintenance releases are provided at no cost.
